Chin Augmentation

Patients that present with abnormal chin positions, for example:

  • Escessively long or pronounced chin
  • Deficient, short or pointed chin
  • Assymetric chin position

may benefit from surgery to reposition or recontour the bone in order to improve facial profile and lip posture.

In many cases, the chin itself can be repositioned. This is done thru a small incision on the inside of the lower lip. Certain situations require the placement of a pre-formed or custom designed plastic implant to achieve a specific result.

The majority of these procedures are done as an outpatient either in the hospital or in our state of the art ambulatory surgical facility in Ft. Lauterdale or Plantation, Florida.

If your chin position problem is associated with a problem with the way your teeth come together (malocclusion), you may benefit from orthognathic surgery. Please refer to this section for a more involved discussion on this topic.
